Free Five Friday

Summertime for me, when I was growing up, was all about camping. We camped for 2 or 3 weeks at a time up in the mountains next to the Blue Ridge Parkway. We'd play in creeks, pick berries, eat biscuits made in a cast iron pan over a fire. Life was so simple back then! Here are a few summer adventure scenes to round out your stash. Summer usually means vacations, and one place a lot of people go is the beach. So here are a few vintage illustrations of life on the beach back in the olden days. 'Under the boardwalk, down by the sea, on a blanket with my baby, is where I'll be' ...... That's the tune in my head! 🏖⛱🏄🌊 👙👣⚓🛥🏊🩱

July comes in with a bang. Independence Day. The day we of the USA celebrate our freedom as a nation. This is a day that should never be forgotten or be taken lightly. Also in July: school's out, it's hot, and it's time for vacations. Trips to the beach, baking in the sun. Going to the mountains, camping, staying out late and catching fireflies.

Another rainy Friday, at least in these five free files. On a different note, Google has informed me that the 'subscribe by email' feature for their blog service is going away in July. April showers bring may flowers. That was what my mother and grandmother always said when I was growing up. Hence, the theme for April is rain . I began this blog a year ago on the 12th as a way to share files with people in lockdown that could not find resources elsewhere since so many businesses were closed during that time. There is nothing quite so satisfying as an afternoon cup of hot tea when the weather is cool. And there is also nothing quite like a tall glass of ice cold tea on a hot day. Either way, tea illustrations add another dimension to our journaling ephemera. Enjoy, ladies, and happy crafting! 💛🍵🥤⛾🌿
